An ancient weaving workshop with rich traditions
Crafts House: +371 28301408Jaunpils House of Crafts introduces guests to Latvian cultural and historical heritage, the preservation of ancient craft skills through the centuries, demonstrating weaving skills and showing their application in modern times.
The history of the House of Crafts began in 1970 with the founding of the applied arts group “Dzīpars” of the Jaunpils Culture House. In 2006, the “Dzīpars” association was founded, which ensures participation in various competitions, helping to provide handicraft workers with various equipment and tools. It organizes events for handicraft workers on a Latvian and local scale. On April 2, 2015, the Jaunpils House of Crafts opened. It houses weaving, ceramic, sewing, knitting and other small handicraft groups.
Visitors are offered:
Jaunpils Craft House has been run by certified master weaver Velga Pavlovska since 2015. Velga is a passionate leader who cares about preserving Latvian heritage, as well as integrating modern traditions into crafts.
Manager Velga is committed to promoting the Jaunpils region as a space friendly to culture and creative expression, and to creating a favorable environment for learning and preserving ancient and modern craft skills.
