Jaunpils Crafts House is home to workshops, ancient values and traditions, creativity and warmth

Jaunpils Craft House introduces guests to the Latvian cultural and historical heritage, preservation of ancient craft skills through the centuries, demonstrating weaving craft skills and showing their application today.

The beginnings of the craft house

The history of the Craft House dates back to 1970 with the founding of the applied art group “Dzīpars” of the Jaunpils Culture House. 2006. The association “Dzīpars” was founded in 2006, which takes care of participation in various competitions, helping to provide handicraftsmen with various equipment and tools. Organizes events for knitters in Latvia and locally. 2015. on 2. Jaunpils Craft House will be opened in April. It has groups of weavers, potters, seamstresses, knitters and other small handicrafts.

What does the Craft House do?

Visitors are offered:

excursion to the House of Crafts “From the back of a sheep to the finished work”, where everyone can weave their own pattern in canvas, get acquainted with the ancient tools of craftsmen, learn about the ancient closed cycle of agriculture;
creative activities – braiding with different numbers of yarns, working with clay, felting lessons; ancient values and traditions
master classes for both children and adults;
A special adventure is also a wedding excursion in the Latvian spirit, which looks at the daughter ‘s traditional dowry, spun love threads, but before going on further trips, each couple has the opportunity to make a pottery or something else.

The job of a home manager and goals

Jaunpils Craft House since 2015. is led by a graduate master – weaver Velga Pavlovska. Velga is an enthusiastic leader who cares about preserving the Latvian heritage, as well as integrating modern traditions into crafts.

Manager Velga is committed to popularizing Jaunpils region as a space friendly to culture and creative expressions, to creating a favorable environment for learning and preserving ancient and modern craft skills.
