In one of the oldest parts of the castle - the knights' dining hall, under a vaulted ceiling, the medieval tavern of Jaunpils Castle is located, where guests of the castle can feast on delicious food by candlelight and to the sounds of ancient music.
The history of the Jaunpils Castle Pub dates back to the very beginnings of the castle. The pub's kitchen has not changed its location since the 14th century.
The interior of the pub with concrete vaults, a burning fireplace, special lighting, candles, and a mood is designed so that every visitor can feel the medieval atmosphere while enjoying their feast.
The menu is carefully thought out and combines classic values with modern ingredients and a special way of serving.
People travel from far and wide to taste the sizzling blood sausages, and they are recognized as the best in the entire kingdom.
Jaunpils Castle Pub is run by a young but very talented and energetic chef, Artūrs Aumalis. His perfectionism and demand for the highest quality are appreciated throughout Latvia. The pub is noticed, appreciated and awarded.
The castle pub won an award for using local products in the preparation of delicious dishes at the Regional Tastes of Latvia competition.
The tavern's daily menu combines medieval dishes with sophisticated European cuisine. Dishes include goat cheese and smoked beetroot salad, Hell Mountain buckwheat soup, venison steak with red wine and lingonberry spiced goose, venison ribs in Jaunpils beer with braised cabbage, thin pancakes sizzling in butter...
The pub's drink menu includes selected wines from the Tēviņi winery here in Latvia, as well as French and Italian dry wines, which the chef recommends with each dish.
